She's given up her place in the record books.
Fever Star Caitlin Clark Loses Exclusive Spot in WNBA History Books on Monday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Caitlin Clark remains out with a lingering groin injury and has no timetable for her return. She sat out for a fourth consecutive game on Saturday as the Fever took down the rival Chicago Sky, 93-78.
Clark’s absence has created an opening for the rest of the league. Dallas Wings star Arike Ogunbowale took full advantage on Monday as she led her team against the defending champions, the New York Liberty.
Arike Ogunbowale Makes WNBA History on Monday
Ogunbowale went off in the first half on Monday: a 15-point, 10-assist double-double. According to Polymarket Hoops on X, the four-time All-Star joined Clark as the only two players in the past 20 years to have at least 10 points and 10 assists in a single half. Thanks to Ogunbowale’s effort in the first half of Monday’s game, this WNBA mark is no longer exclusively Clark's.
Wings Blowing Out Liberty Amid Breanna Stewart’s Absence
Thanks in large part to Ogunbowale’s historic half, the Wings took a commanding 63-36 lead over the defending champs at the break. They led 85-62 entering the fourth quarter.
It’s no coincidence the Liberty are involved in one of their most lopsided games on the scoreboard on a night two-time WNBA MVP Breanna Stewart sat out with a leg injury. Stewart has no timetable for her return, which means a tough road ahead for the Liberty if she is forced to miss extended time.
The Wings are on their way to securing their eighth win of the season and their first in the last three games.
