Oregon head coach Dan Lanning believes tight end Kenyon Sadiq is primed for a breakout year, and he’s not being subtle about it.

“I think Kenyon is one of the most dynamic players in college football,” Lanning said at Oregon Football Media Day on Monday. “He’s just grown and gotten better every single year that he’s been here.”

Sadiq’s athleticism has already made him a highlight-reel regular. His hurdling, 34-yard touchdown against Penn State in last year’s Big Ten Championship turned heads on social media, showcasing the explosiveness that Lanning believes sets the Idaho native apart.

“What I love that I’m starting to see show up in Kenyon that I haven’t seen as much of before is the leadership traits that are starting to develop,” Lanning said. “The way he takes the field, the way he works in practice drills, the effort in film. All those pieces are really adding up.”

With former stars Terrance Ferguson and Patrick Herbert moving on, Sadiq has swiftly stepped into a veteran role as the Ducks' most experienced tight end, and one of their most experienced pass-catchers.

“I think things that I used to say about Terrance or Pat — now I’m starting to say those same things about Kenyon,” Lanning said. “Kenyon’s always been an unbelievable player. I think this will be a great season for him to have a coming out party.”

As Oregon looks to defend its Big Ten crown, Sadiq’s blend of raw athletic talent and newfound leadership traits could make him one of the Ducks’ biggest weapons in 2025.

The standout tight end will be in action Saturday, August 30 as Oregon hosts Montana State in its season-opener. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. PST.
