No. 1 Recruit Reveals What Sets Texas Apart originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Texas Longhorns are heavily recruiting 2027 offensive tackle Kennedy Brown, and it is no surprise why, with how talented he is.
In a recent interview with Rivals' Sam Spiegelman, Brown revealed how things are going with some of the top contenders in his recruitment. So far, Texas, the Texas A&M Aggies, the Oregon Ducks, the Clemson Tigers, the Georgia Bulldogs, and the SMU Mustangs are competing for Brown.
Brown revealed that the Longhorns' ability to produce NFL talent is what is making Texas stand out in recruiting.
In the 2025 NFL Draft, Texas had 12 players selected, including cornerback Jahdae Barron and receiver Matthew Golden.
“Their team is amazing,” said Brown, who has forged strong connections to multiple offensive linemen in Austin, including Nate Kibble and Colin Simmons. “Their team is truly great. Coach Flood is very down-to-earth. He’ll chew you out, but he gets you to where you want to be. He’s not gonna over-complicate things. Coach (Derron) Gatewood will talk to me about everything — from drills to giving advice. Coach Sark has been FaceTiming me, talking about the season … I love it. They produce to the NFL, and they’ve shown that. Every time I see it, that attracts me more to Texas. They’ve been consistent and I like it.”
Brown is the top player and offensive tackle in the Rivals Industry Rankings for the 2027 class.
The Longhorns currently are in the lead, based on the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine. Texas has the best chance at 24.1%, followed by Texas A&M (11%), Clemson (7.8%), and Oregon (7.8%).
One of Texas' latest stars to produce at the NFL level, Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson, recently corrected everyone on how to pronounce his name. Robinson said that it should be (BI-Jahn) instead of (BEE-Jahn).
One of the top returning players for Texas, edge rusher Colin Simmons, made headlines after being named the best player at his position by PFF.
Things are going well in the Lone Star State heading into 2025.
