Alabama is getting a look at the best running back.

The Alabama Crimson Tide has quite a pedigree when it comes to producing top running backs.

The likes of Heisman winners Derrick Henry (2015) and Mark Ingram II (2009) have come through Alabama, as well as Josh Jacobs and Shaun Alexander.

Head coach Kalen DeBoer is trying to add to the program's running back resume with 2027 running back Kamon Spell, who scheduled an unofficial visit with the Crimson Tide for October 18, per Rivals' Ryan Snyder.

Spell is a five-star prospect, the No. 9 overall prospect and No. 1 running back in the Rivals Industry Rankings. He is a native of McKeesport, Pennsylvania.

Alabama does have a slight roadblock to get over when it comes to Spell's recruitment, however. Spell has been committed to the Penn State Nittany Lions since August of 2024. He is Penn State's top commit and only five-star pledge from the class.

A player of Spell's quality would be quite the addition to DeBoer's 2027 class. Alabama currently has commitments from four-star edge rusher JaBarrious Garror and four-star athlete Alexander Ward.

The Crimson Tide is not the only team Spell is taking visits with, as he will also meet with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (September 13), Penn State (September 27), and the Florida State Seminoles (October 4).

Speaking of Florida State, the Seminoles' quarterback Thomas Castellanos has had words for Alabama this offseason ahead of the season opener with the Crimson Tide. After saying that the program does not have Nick Saban to save them anymore, the quarterback tripled down on his comments at ACC Media Days.

For Saban, the head coach has dealt with rumors regarding a return to coaching. Saban joked that one job around the house made him want to come back. His wife, Miss Terry, asked him to vacuum downstairs, and he briefly reconsidered his retirement.

Alabama and Florida State kick off on August 30 at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
