The Atlanta Dream's game against the Golden State Valkyries on Tuesday night had an ending no one could predict.
As the final seconds wound down and the teams fought for the win on Tuesday, July 29, the broadcast showed a green object being thrown onto the court, later identified as a sex toy.
In a clip shared on X, sports announcer Morgan Ragan could be heard saying during a replay of the moment: “Something flies on the court actually from the crowd. And you can see the object... the green thing bounces and it goes to the sideline.”
“We’re not exactly sure where it came from,” she continued, as a timeout was called and the game was paused. “No room for any of that type of activity. And no one’s picked the object up yet, you guys.”
Security, referees and team representatives could be seen discussing the incident on the sidelines, as the camera zoomed into the green object — which could be clearly identified as a sex toy — for a brief second.
“Oh my gosh, okay. Okay, inappropriate,” the sports announcer said, as the object was identified. “Get them out of here, whoever it is [that threw it].”
A police officer could be seen removing the sex toy from the court with a towel and taking it away before the game continued. Ultimately the Valkyries beat the Dream, 77-75.
PEOPLE has reached out to the WNBA for comment on the incident.
The WNBA and sports announcers did not say whether the culprit who threw the object onto the court was caught or what kind of consequences the perpetrator might face.

However, according to the WNBA’s Fan Code of Conduct on its website, “guests who engage in fighting, throwing objects or attempting to enter the court will be immediately ejected from the arena.”
While the owner of the sex toy has yet to be identified, the clip of the incident quickly went viral among WNBA fans.
