Georgia, Texas atop 2025 SEC football preseason power rankings

2025 preseason SEC football power rankings based on the media's predicted order of finish in the standings

The media predicts that the Texas Longhorns will win the Southeastern Conference in 2025. The Georgia Bulldogs are predicted to finish second and fall to the Longhorns in the SEC championship for a second straight season. Texas received 96 votes to be SEC champions while Georgia received 44 votes, which is second-most in the conference.

Outside of Georgia and Texas, both Alabama (29 votes) and LSU (20 votes) received at least 20 media votes and should be considered SEC championship contenders entering the fall.

In 2024, the media's preseason poll correctly picked that Georgia would beat Texas in the SEC championship, so the poll should carry a significant amount of weight. The poll also ranks each SEC team based on predicted order of finish in the standings. We use that same order to create the conference's implied power rankings entering the 2025 season.
