USMNT star opens up on comparisons between AC Milan and Chelsea

USMNT star shares his experiences of playing for AC Milan and Chelsea.

Christian Pulisic Milan

United States men's national football team star Christian Pulisic has resurrected his career at AC Milan after delivering two decent campaigns in Serie A.

He moved to Serie A in 2023 as he joined Milan after a tumultuous stint with Chelsea, where he suffered from injuries and inconsistent form over four seasons.

The 26-year-old winger has been a key player for the Rossoneri as he has cemented his place in the team with consistent performances on the right flank.

Pulisic has netted 32 goals for Milan in the last two seasons, more than his 26-goal tally for Chelsea across four campaigns

In a recent interview, Pulisic highlighted the differences between his stints at AC Milan and Chelsea.

"I’ve been given freedom here at Milan and I feel the trust everyone has in me, from my teammates to the coach, the management and the fans," Pulisic told Gazzetta dello Sport

"The club gave me a great opportunity by signing me, and I must improve every year, work hard and keep stepping up my performance. If things are going well, it’s no surprise, given what I do during the season and in pre-season, as I give everything I can."

When asked if Pulisic feels more at ease at San Siro in comparison to Stamford, the US star shared, "That’s right, even if it’s easier to say so after scoring a lot over the past two seasons."

“I’m really enjoying myself in Milan, and I want to continue this way. I think Serie A is a very physical and tough league. Since arriving in Italy, I’ve improved at making decisions on how to finish off plays. I mean, choosing between taking a shot and making the final pass. For an attacking player like me, these are key aspects."

What did Pulisic say about Milan's new manager, Massimiliano Allegri?

Interestingly, Pulisic's 17-goal season is not only his best campaign so far, but he also became the first Milan player since Zlatan Ibrahimovic to score 15-plus goals in their first two seasons.

Milan and Pulisic are aiming for Champions League football next season with the arrival of new manager Massimiliano Allegri and the transfer of former Ballon d'Or winner Luka Modric.

Speaking on Allegri's arrival at Milan, "He’s made the right start. He’s a coach who managed many great players."

"He knows how to talk to the team and create the right connection with the squad. He’s focusing on giving Milan strong defensive unity, which is essential to then create the chances to score."

AC Milan have had a decent preseason outing until now, where they have suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against Arsenal, followed by a 4-2 win against Liverpool.
