ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Yoruba Moreu has over 180 amateur boxing bouts with 150 wins to his credit. The 20-year-old is now set to make his professional debut in Nashville, Tennessee Saturday, and it’s a moment that the boxer has been working for since a young age.
“I have been in the field of multiple amateur fights, I have been competing at the top level since I was a kid, been in there with World Champions, been in there with the best of the best pros. So, physically and mentally, I feel like I am going to come out victorious. I know I am, and my work is going to speak for itself,” said Yoruba Moreu.
Moreu will take on Ndira Spearman on Saturday at the Fairgrounds Arena in Nashville. Spearman wasn’t the opponent that Moreu originally had. It was a last-minute opponent change, and Moreu also found out that he would not be fighting a six-round bout in his pro debut, but instead four rounds. “The guy that I had originally pulled out a week ago, and I had him set for a month. So, we have been going through opponents, but we found one who is willing to take the step up. I was trying to be the first in New Mexico history to do six rounds, but at the end of the day, we have a fight,” said Moreu.
No matter the opponent or the place. Moreu is just ready to take the 125 lbs. division by storm on Saturday. Moreu said that he wants to not only win but make a statement. “They have only seen a little glimpse, a little preview or trailer, but they haven’t seen the full movie yet. So, I can’t wait to show out everything, and when that bell rings, you definitely want to stay tuned. For the fans out there, I like to put on a show, and if I have a green light to take him out, I am going to take him out. That’s how I roll,” said Moreu.
Moreu vs Spearman is this Saturday in Nashville, Tennessee, and it’s set to start at 5 p.m. MT.
