Cole McWard (BRI) went first setting the bar with a time of 13.843s.
Matvei Gridin (CGY) went second but slipped around the final bend, putting up a disappointing 14.485s.
Much was expected out of Frederic Brunet (PRO), who grew up as a speed-skater and whose brother Cedric Brunet (also speed-skater) is currently competing in the 2026 Winter Olympics, and he set a time of 13.857s.
Dmitri Simashev (TUC) went fourth and put up over 14 seconds.
Helenius then came up and and set up the winning time of 13.770.
Justin Robidas (CHI) came amidst boo-birds, but he too put over 14 seconds, leaving Helenius as the clear winner, giving the East a point.
As Gridin, Simashev, and Robidas (all Western representatives) all put up over 14 seconds, their averages were higher than the remaining three Eastern participants, giving the East another point.
