Browns tight end says goodbye to Cleveland

He is slated to become a free agent when the new NFL league year begins in March.

BEREA, Ohio (WKBN) – Tight End David Njoku announced on social media on Monday night that he will not return to the Cleveland Browns.

He is slated to become a free agent when the new NFL league year begins in March.

In the post, he wrote:

“Cleveland, first off I love you. These 9 years have been a beautiful journey. I am so grateful for all the memories we shared together. Thank you to the Haslams, Andrew Berry and the whole Browns organization for everything!! All my teammates I shared the battle with I’m so grateful for you guys. The time for me to find a new home has come and all I can think of is just the gratefulness in my heart. The city of Cleveland will forever be home.”

Njoku has spent the past nine seasons with the Browns, appearing in 118 games. He has piled up 384 career receptions for 4,062 yards and 34 touchdowns.

Last season, Njoku played in 12 games with Cleveland. He finished the season with 33 receptions for 293 yards and four touchdowns.

Njoku was originally selected by the Browns in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
