Patrick Reed’s victory at the Qatar Masters has put him within touching distance of securing a PGA Tour card for 2027.
The DP World Tour has benefitted from his presence, as the 35-year-old American has been a regular feature in the early part of the season.
Reed has picked up wins at both the Dubai Desert Classic and the Qatar Masters. It is his first time winning two titles in a calendar year in more than a decade.
And he also made it to a playoff in Bahrain last week, adding to what has been an impressive start to 2025.
Patrick Reed has a chance to chase history after his latest DP World Tour win
With his latest win, the former LIV Golf player can likely rest for the remainder of the season and still lock up a full PGA Tour card for next year.
But he may have a rare opportunity to make some history before heading back to the U.S.
He actually has the opportunity to break a record that Seve Ballesteros still holds.
The Spaniard is still the only player to win six official events on the European Tour in a single season, a record that dates back to 1986.
Patrick Reed is looking to prove a point before returning to the PGA Tour
He has a long way to go, but it is hard to argue with how well he has started. Two wins already put him in a great position.
Reed has always been someone who likes to stay busy, so he will have plenty of chances to add more titles over the next few months.
The break from the PGA Tour seems to have done him some good. He has come back with real intent and could be in line for one of his best seasons in the majors, especially at The Masters.
Chasing five more wins on the DP World Tour will not be easy, especially if he plans to return Stateside once his suspension is up in August. But given how well he has been playing since leaving LIV Golf, you cannot rule anything out just yet.
