Barcelona have confirmed that Juan Hernandez has signed a new contract with the club that runs until 2028.

The 18-year-old has scored four goals and provided four assists in 20 Barca Atletic games so far this season and has also been called up twice to the first-team squad for matches in 2025-26.

Here’s the club’s official statement:

“FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with player Juan Hernández to extend his contract, which will link him to the Club for the next two seasons, until June 30, 2028, with the option to extend the agreement between both parties for one more year.

“The Aragonese midfielder will remain with the club after completing his youth career, although he has already been training with the reserve team this season. In fact, this January he officially joined Barça Atlètic, changing his number from 30 to 20, which he could debut this Sunday. He was accompanied at the signing by the Director of Youth Football, José Ramón Alexanco.”

There had been speculation that PSG were keen on signing Hernandez on a free transfer, but his decision to extend his contract with Barca should end those rumors.

There’s also been talk that Hernandez could get more time in and around the first team following Dro Fernandez’s exit, and he’s certainly one worth keeping an eye on right now.
