Manchester United eased past 10-man Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Saturday to make it four wins out of four under Michael Carrick.
When Spurs went down to 10 men, fans inside the Theatre of Dreams must have had flashbacks to that horror night against Everton earlier in the season when they ended up losing despite a man advantage.
But not under the caretaker head coach. They overcame the visitors’ low-block with the help of a stunning set-piece routine straight from the training ground, courtesy of Bryan Mbeumo.
A fantastic second-half strike from Bruno Fernandes sealed all three points. It was almost the perfect day until a video emerged showing the former Brentford forward limping on his way out of the stadium.
Bryan Mbeumo injury scare
With the West Ham game just a couple of days away, fans were rightly worried considering the Cameroonian is the top scorer for the Red Devils this season with 10 goals.
However, as per Sully, known for his accurate information on the club, the 26-year-old seemed fine during training on Sunday.
In fact, all the players came in for their recovery sessions and the squad was in a buoyant mood, indicating that there is no major risk of Bryan Mbeumo missing Tuesday’s away fixture.
Carrick and his coaching staff were also in early at Carrington, and they dissected footage from the win over the team from North London.
Latest update
“Michael Carrick, Steve Holland + co arrived early into Carrington this morning to analyse the Spurs game. All the players had a recovery session with a very positive mood altogether.
“Bryan Mbeumo seemed fine despite concerns. Full focus on West Ham now,” Sully wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
United are already without Matthijs de Ligt, Mason Mount, and Shea Lacey and can ill afford another injury as they seek to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Fans will be delighted with the update, and hopefully, Bryan Mbeumo starts again at the London Stadium as United aim to make it five wins out of five.
