Streamer Jack Doherty made the headlines for the wrong reasons in round two of the WM Phoenix Open on Friday.

He paid a spectator $100 to shout during Mackenzie Hughes’ backswing at TPC Scottsdale.

This behavior is strictly forbidden at PGA Tour events, and Doherty was later given a lifetime ban.

The streamer then posted a message on social media, claiming that golf fans are “soft” for taking it so seriously.

Tour winner Michael Kim, who is also playing at the Phoenix Open, has now issued a brutally honest response to Doherty.

Besides the incident, Doherty annoyed the golf community even more by tweeting, “all you guys are soft.”

However, Kim, who often speaks his mind on social media, was not prepared to let Doherty get away with his comment.

The world number 43 replied: “Lol, ‘soft.’ Hey Jack, just have a little bit of respect for guys trying to do their jobs.

“You’re the one who sounds soft for talking like a crybaby after getting kicked out of a golf tournament.”

Kim is absolutely right to call out Doherty’s naivety in failing to understand why his behavior was unacceptable.

Mackenzie Hughes opens up on Jack Doherty incident

Thankfully, Mackenzie Hughes was not distracted too much by Doherty’s foolishness at the Phoenix Open.

The shout came early enough in his swing that he could back out and take a few moments to compose himself.

Hughes also realized that the streamer was trying to cause a stir, and it was nothing personal against him.

“It happens at this tournament sometimes,” he explained to The Athletic. “Yeah, I saw the video. Honestly, I didn’t lose much sleep over it.

“My caddie and the security staff were all pretty prompt to kick whoever it was out… I feel like I wasn’t really much of the story.

“I just happened to be the guy that was there… I’m not really much of a social media guy, so I had no idea who it was.”
