Liam Rosenior is delighted Mamadou Sarr is back at Chelsea and believes he’s got he potential to become a world class centre back.
The Blues signed Sarr last summer for around £12.5m, and the Senegal international made his debut at the Club World Cup.
Sarr was then sent back to Strasbourg on loan for the season to continue his development, where he worked under Rosenior for the first half of the campaign.

However, Chelsea opted to recall Sarr early from his loan and he will now be part of the squad for the second half of the season.
The Blues sent Aaron Anselmino on loan to Strasbourg as his replacement, and Sarr could make his Premier League debut against Wolves on Saturday.
Sarr played very well for Senegal as they won the African Cup of Nations, and he’s a player Rosenior knows well having worked with him for 18 months.

There’s fierce competition for places at centre back, but Rosenior believes Sarr has the potential to be world class.
“Everyone knows what I think about Mamadou, I think he’s got the potential to be a world-class centre-back,” he told Chelsea’s website.
“I’m delighted he’s here and thank the sporting directors and ownership for supporting what I thought was the right decision for us and for him in his career.
“I see a growth in Mamadou, even his performance in the AFCON final. I see a growth in his physicality, I see a growth in his tactical understanding. Also, it was an area of the pitch I felt we could strengthen.
“He will get his opportunity, but he knows he needs to fight for it because we have got many outstanding centre-backs in our group.”
Senegal international to offer versatility to Chelsea?
Rosenior also feels Sarr can bring versatility to the Chelsea defence, a quality which he values very highly in his players.

“If you look at the flexibility of our defenders, Trevoh [Chalobah] can play all three positions, Wes [Fofana] can play on the right or centre, Mamadou can play all three, Josh [Acheampong] can play all three.
“I like versatility and flexibility, in our build-up especially. I don’t say someone is ‘just a central centre-back or right or left centre-back’, Mamadou can play every position and can do it at a very high level.”
