Exit talk is beginning to swirl around Alexis Mac Allister.

The Liverpool midfielder was signed in 2023 from Brighton - on a bargain £35m deal. The Argentina World Cup winner wasted no time in making himself a key player under Jurgen Klopp - excelling as the Reds won the 2023/24 EFL Cup.

But even greater things were to follow for Macca. The No10 was a centrepiece for the 2024/25 Premier League title win - orchestrating Arne Slot’s midfield.

Alexis signed a five-year contract upon his Anfield arrival - and his current deal runs out in a little over two years. By this stage you might expect contract talks to be well underway but right now it doesn’t appear that he will sign a new one anytime soon.

Alexis wanted by Real Madrid

His wages are estimated at around £150k per week but given his drop off in form over the course of the season Richard Hughes might expect better value for money.

Mac Allister is probably going to seek a pay rise but Liverpool have got to weigh up whether or not at 27 his best days are behind him.

It all opens the door to Real Madrid - with reports earlier in the week suggesting that Mac Allister was unwilling to sign an extension on Merseyside in order to ease a move to Madrid.

By not signing a new contract Mac Allister’s transfer value would plunge - perhaps leaving Hughes no option but to consider a sale in 2026 or else 2027.

Liverpool want Tchouameni as part of Mac Allister deal

Intriguingly Defensa Central is also stating that Liverpool are willing to talk about Mac Allister going to the Bernabeu - so long as Madrid include Aurelien Tchouameni in the deal.

Alexis Mac Allister is one of the players who fits the club's plans,” the report reads.

“The Anfield club would be willing to negotiate his move to the Bernabéu on one condition: that Tchouameni, in exchange, goes in the opposite direction.”

The 26-year-old has been on the Liverpool radar ever since his Ligue 1 days.

The Reds tried to sign the France international when he was at Monaco - but Tchouameni opted for Real Madrid back in 2022.

His current contract expires in 2028 - and therefore there could be potential for Liverpool to conduct a deal for their one-time dream midfielder.

The Premier League champions have a glaring need for top-quality midfield reinforcements - with the future of Mac Allister as well as Curtis Jones in doubt.

Tchouameni could play defensive midfield - allowing Ryan Gravenberch to push further forward - and comes with bags of experience and quality.

So we could see Mac Allister granted his wish and get a move to Real Madrid. And in return Liverpool could be given the chance to recruit a player who’s been on their list for a long time.
