No, Shaun White will not be participating in the 2026 Winter Olympics. His competitive snowboarding days are behind him — White announced during the 2022 Winter Olympics that it would be his last one, and he later announced that it would be his last event altogether.
White, however, will have a post-retirement role at the 2026 Games in Italy. He will join NBC as an expert commentator throughout the Olympics, bringing his knowledge of snowboarding to the network's coverage.
NBC announced that White would be in the broadcast booth when the Olympic athletes enter the stadium for the traditional Parade of Nations.
“I’m so excited to be part of the Opening Ceremony for the Milan Cortina Olympics,” White said in a statement on his NBC role. “The Olympics have been such a huge part of my life, and to return in this new role -- celebrating the athletes, the energy, and the incredible backdrop of Italy -- is truly an honor. I know what that moment means when the world is watching, and I can’t wait to help bring that magic to everyone at home.”
According to Olympics.com, White will be "stopping by a host of different disciplines and events" in Milan, adding any insight he can into the events.
"This is all an exciting time for me, from announcing and being a part of the Olympics in this new way," White told Olympics.com."I am excited to take it all in. See the different events like ice skating, skiing, half pipe, big air, obviously snowboarding. I'm just going try to see everything honestly, that's my goal."
