Cristiano Ronaldo remains the central talking point in the Saudi Pro League after missing another Al-Nassr match amid an ongoing dispute involving the Public Investment Fund (PIF).

The forward has now sat out successive league fixtures, having last appeared on January 30. He missed the trip to Al-Riyadh and is again absent for the clash with Al-Ittihad.

According to reports, Ronaldo believes Al-Nassr have been disadvantaged by the PIF, claiming rivals Al-Hilal have been favoured in key decisions. The Saudi Pro League has already rejected those allegations in an official statement.

Despite the growing attention around the situation, Ronaldo has yet to comment publicly. The Portuguese international remains the highest-paid player in the league, earning around €200 million per season, and has played a prominent role in promoting Saudi football since his arrival.

The issue has dominated discussion around the league since Monday, with reports suggesting Ronaldo is unhappy with Al-Nassr’s limited activity in the January transfer window.

That frustration reportedly increased after Al-Hilal were able to complete the signing of Karim Benzema, a deal funded by the club’s ‘Golden Member’, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, who owns 75 per cent of the club and is seeking to buy out the PIF’s remaining stake.

Al-Nassr were more restricted in the market despite sitting just one point behind league leaders Al-Hilal.

Ronaldo missed Monday’s 1-0 win over Al-Riyadh and is absent again today.
