Did LeBron James give NBA 2K an ultimatum? Explaining viral post about Lakers star's 2K rating demand

The King is worthy of a high rating.

LeBron James

LeBron James is one of the greatest basketball players ever.

Through his career of more than two decades, that has translated into the NBA 2K video game series, too. James has always been one of the best-rated players in the game.

But now, a rumor has begun to circulate about just how highly James wants to be rated in NBA 2K26.

And, well, it's not true.

Did LeBron James give NBA 2K an ultimatum?

No, LeBron James did not give any kind of ultimatum about his rating for NBA 2K26.

The parody account NBA Centel posted that James wouldn't appear in the game unless he has a 99 overall rating.

The post, seen by hundreds of thousands of people, isn't true.

Maybe intentionally, the post came out the same day Madden announced its seven 99-overall players for the new NFL video game.

James will surely still get a strong rating, although it likely won't be a 99. But he'll be in there, as he has been for more than 20 years running.
