After the Farmers Insurance Open, Keegan Bradley was probably hoping the conversation would be more about how he played.

The 2026 season looks like it will be a very different one for Keegan Bradley. Unless he gets picked again for Adare Manor, the Ryder Cup captaincy probably will not be on his plate.

It has not been the best start to the new year for him. He missed the cut at the Sony Open in Hawaii and then finished tied for 43rd at the Farmers Insurance Open.

During round three at Torrey Pines, a clip surfaced that drew a lot of criticism towards Bradley.

Bradley’s putting routine became a talking point after he spent well over a minute setting up a three-footer. The 39-year-old used AimPoint to read the break, taking multiple readings before finally stepping up to the putt.

Fan criticism of the footage, including calls for an AimPoint ban, prompted former PGA Tour player Nick O’Hern to insist that action needs to be taken.

“I know AimPoint’s a controversial topic among the golfing fraternity. Some people love it, some people don’t. I’m not a fan. I don’t have any issues reading greens. I know some people do. But at this level, these players should be able to read greens without straddling the line,” he said on Talk Birdie To Me podcast.

“I think straddling the line should be banned, number one, simple. If you still want to stand behind your ball and get a feel for it, that’s fine, but don’t walk all the way down the line. And facing the wrong way, that’s what’s comical.

“After that putt, they should be on him going, ‘look, you took too long there, you get a warning. Next time you do it, one shot penalty, a fine’, I don’t know whatever it is they do these days. It should be a one shot penalty. That will stop him really quick.”

PGA Tour players unhappy with Keegan Bradley after latest incident

It is understandable if a few PGA Tour players are not too pleased with Bradley after what happened.

AimPoint tends to split opinion in golf circles, and Lucas Glover has openly criticised it in the past, calling the method rude.

Still, plenty of players use AimPoint without causing any delays. Both Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood are known for keeping things moving quickly despite using the technique.

Bradley has always been a bit particular in his approach. He often takes extra time before his shots, but the delay on that three-footer stood out even more given he had already seen how it would break from his first putt.

Clips like that only add fuel to the fire for those who are not fans of AimPoint, which likely will not sit well with many of his fellow pros.
