The suspected perpetrator has returned stolen ski jumping equipment from Norway's team just in time for the Winter Olympics, German police said in a press release on Thursday.

According to the statement, a package containing helmets, jackets, and goggles arrived at the Willingen Ski Club in Germany.

The police said that one of the two suspects, who had previously contacted the police and the Norwegian team, apparently sent the package.

It is not clear whether all stolen items were returned. The police added that the equipment will be "returned to the Norwegian team as soon as possible."

Helmets, jackets, caps, gloves and goggles were stolen from Norway's ski jumping team during last weekend's World Cup stop in Willingen.

A police spokesman said the robbery took place on Saturday from the team's storage room.

On Wednesday, Norway ski jumping team sports director, Jan-Erik Aalbu, said that a suspected perpetrator contacted him by phone and apologized for the theft.

"He apologized and was very afraid of the consequences. He was clearly a remorseful sinner," Aalbu told the Norwegian newspaper Nettavisen.

The Willingen events were the last competitions before the Milan/Cortina Winter Olympics which open on Friday.
