Juventus will visit the New Balance Arena as they face Atalanta in the Coppa Italia quarter-final on Thursday.

Both clubs enter the clash viewing the Coppa Italia as a realistic route to silverware, with their league campaigns leaving them some way behind the pace of the Scudetto.

Atalanta vs Juventus – Match preview and team news

  • Date: Thursday, 5th February.
  • Kick-off: 8pm BST.
  • Venue: New Balance Arena, Bergamo.

Atalanta team news

Atalanta are without long-term absentee Mitchel Bakker, who suffered an ACL tear in his right knee last July and has yet to return to competitive action. Raoul Bellanova is listed as doubtful as well.

Honest Ahanor was shown a red card in the 0-0 draw away to Como at the weekend, a game Atalanta played almost entirely with 10 men, and now it is to be seen if he gets another chance.

The January window saw key changes in attack, with Giacomo Raspadori arriving and Ademola Lookman sold to Atlético Madrid, a move Palladino confirmed was driven by the winger’s desire to leave.

Palladino has spoken of “a fascinating game against a strong team in good shape” and stressed that Atalanta “care about this competition and want to keep going forward”, underlining how seriously La Dea are treating the Coppa Italia. Goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi is expected to start and has been in outstanding form, conceding just one Serie A goal in 2026 so far.

Juventus team news

Juventus travel without striker Dusan Vlahovic, who is sidelined and will miss the quarter-final in Bergamo. Arkadiusz Milik also remains out, further limiting Spalletti’s options at centre-forward, although Milik is nearing a return.

There is significant concern over playmaker Kenan Yildiz, who picked up an adductor strain against Parma; Luciano Spalletti has indicated it will be “challenging” to have him ready for Thursday, making a bench role the best-case scenario.

Spalletti can at least call on in-form midfielders Weston McKennie and Khephren Thuram, while centre-back Gleison Bremer is enjoying a great season, having just scored twice in the 4-1 win at Parma.

January signing Jeremie Boga, whose arrival was confirmed just before that Parma victory, offers an important extra option in the wide attacking roles as Juventus manage Yildiz’s workload. Overall, Juventus are expected to rotate minimally given the stakes, with Jonathan David leading the line in Vlahović’s absence.

Form

Atalanta

Atalanta have won three of their last five home games in all competitions and eight of their last 12 matches overall, including a 4-0 win over Parma in Serie A.

Their only recent blip at home came in a 3-2 Champions League defeat to Athletic Bilbao, while away from Bergamo they drew 1-1 at Pisa and 0-0 at Como, the latter achieved despite Ahanor’s early dismissal.

Juventus

Juventus come into the tie on the back of a 4-1 league win away to Parma, following a 0-0 draw at Monaco in the Champions League and a commanding 3-0 home victory over Napoli.

In last year’s Coppa Italia, Juventus were knocked out in the quarter finals against Empoli on penalties. This time they will look to secure a passage to the semi-final and continue their chase for the trophy.

Predicted lineups

Atalanta: Carnesecchi; Djimsiti, Hien, Kolasinac; Zappacosta, De Roon, Ederson, Zalewski; De Ketelaere, Raspadori; Scamacca

Juventus: Perin; Kalulu, Bremer, Gatti, Cabal; Locatelli, Koopmeiners; Thuram, McKennie, Miretti; David
