Of all the inspiring personal stories playing out at the 2026 Winter Olympics, figure skater Maxim Naumov's might be one of the best.
Naumov is preparing for his Olympic debut following one of the most challenging years of his life. Last January, the 24-year-old lost both his parents in a fatal plane crash above Washington D.C., which took the lives of 67 people including 28 from the U.S. figure skating community.
Since that tragedy, Naumov has worked tirelessly on the ice to earn a spot at the Milan Games, and he did so following this year's U.S. Championships in St. Louis. In Italy, he will be looking to extend his parents' legacy.
