Fortuna Sittard considering Ihattaren with Halilovic’s prospective departure

As per Voetbal International’s Tim van Duijn, Mohamed Ihattaren is of interest to Fortuna Sittard. He is a serious option for the Limburg club if Alen Halilovic leaves the club.

Fortuna have shown interest in Ihattaren, but don’t want to pursue the creative midfielder until Halilovic’s future is certain. The Croatian is being considered by clubs in Major League Soccer, for example, but has several other options and still needs to make a decision.

Fortuna are open to Halilovic’s departure, as his wages are believed to have had a significant drain on the budget, while he hasn’t necessarily delivered performances to warrant this. Once Halilovic departs, Fortuna can pursue Ihattaren.

Ihattaren was given the chance to redeem himself at RKC Waalwijk after his career had hit a grey patch. He scored four goals and provided five assists in 27 Eredivisie matches, putting himself back on the map. His contract with RKC still has one year left, but he his expected to take up an opportunity elsewhere following the club’s relegation to the Keuken Kampioen Divisie.
