Brandon Garrison shines in Kentucky win vs. Oklahoma, then enjoys postgame celebration with son

BG has another stellar outing against the Sooners.

The Kentucky Wildcats knocked off the Oklahoma Sooners inside Rupp Arena on Wednesday night by a final score of 94-78. Brandon Garrison, who is an Oklahoma City native, made sure to show out against the Sooners.

Off the bench, the junior big man notched his first 20-point outing of the season on 7/8 shooting. He also grabbed 11 rebounds in the Wildcats’ win over the Sooners. He has become a much-improved passer throughout the season and tallied three assists on the stat sheet.

Garrison, who was averaging just 3.9 points a game coming into Wednesday night’s matchup, has certainly ramped up his play as conference play has gone on. In early December, Garrison was benched in the Wildcats’ win over NC Central, but he didn’t lose faith.

Head Coach Mark Pope has been Garrison’s biggest supporter this season. It’s very refreshing to see the 6-foot-10 center play some of his best basketball over the past couple of weeks.

Making the night even more special was Garrison’s son, Akarii, joined him in the postgame celebration and interviews.

With the win over the Sooners, the Cats move to 16-7 on the season and 7-3 in SEC play. They’ll be back in action at home against the Tennessee Volunteers. The Wildcats will look to sweep the regular-season series for the second year in a row.

Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
