LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Fans inside Rupp Arena were treated to a rare sight…Kentucky going into halftime with a lead that they maintained for a 94-78 win.
The Wildcats were able to avoid their typical slow first half start by shooting 56.2% (9-16) from the three-point line including 3 first half triples from Collin Chandler who finished with 18 points.
The Cats were also able to share the basketball very well, with 21 assists to just 6 turnovers. It was also a balanced scoring attack with 3 players scoring in double digits for the Wildcats with Otega Oweh leading the way with 24 points, tying his season high. Bradon Garrison also notched his first double-double as a Wildcat with 20 points and 11 rebounds
Kentucky also stepped up its defensive effort limiting Oklahoma to 36.7% from the floor in the first half and outrebounded the Sooners 41-25 with 11 offensive rebounds!
Kentucky has now won 7 of their last 8 games and stays in the hunt for a SEC regular season title, staying in a four-way tie for third and only 1.5 games back from first place Texas A&M.
Kentucky will return to play on Saturday, February 7th when they host No. 25 Tennessee at 8:30pm on ESPN in the highly anticipated “denim game.”
