Three-time bronze medalist snowboader Mark McMorris had to be stretchered off the course in Italy after crashing in a training session.

McMorris, who won bronze medals in the slopestyle competition in the past three Winter Olympics, is mostly known for winning 25 gold medals in Winter X-Games competitions. The 32-year-old was in Livigno preparing for the snowboarding events when one of the events went wrong.

What happened to Mark McMorris?

Camadian snowboarder Mark McMorris was crashed during a big air training session on Wednesday in Italy and had to be stretchered off the course. Team Canada confirmed the crash in a statement.

"Snowboarder Mark McMorris had a heavy crash this evening during big air training," Team Canada said. "Canadian Olympic Committee and Canada Snowboard staff are attending to him. We will provide more information as it becomes available."

Canada snowboarding also commented on their own post regarding McMorris' injury, stating that the snowboarder was going to be ok.

Big air snowboarding features snowboarders using a ramp to do a series of tricks. For the Milan-Cortina Olympics, the ramp is in Livigno and is more than 165 feet tall. McMorris told the Associated Press in January that he was healthy entering the Games.

"I've been feeling pretty good, staying strong and putting quite a bit of effort in the gym to build a robust frame," he said, "because what we do can be a little tricky at times on the body."
