Former Moeller HS standout Jaxson Hayes was suspended one game without pay for pushing a Washington Wizards mascot during pregame introductions.

Los Angeles Lakers center Jaxson Hayes, a former Moeller High School standout, was suspended one game without pay for pushing a Washington Wizards mascot during pregame introductions, the NBA announced Feb. 4.

The announcement was made by the NBA's James Jones, Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations.

The incident occurred during pregame introductions before the Lakers' 142-111 win over the Wizards Jan. 30 at Capital One Arena.

Hayes will serve his suspension Feb. 5 when the Lakers host the Philadelphia 76ers at Crypto.com Arena, according to the announcement.

Hayes and Spurs rookie Carter Bryant accepted invitations to the 2026 NBA Slam Dunk Contest at All-Star weekend Feb. 13-15 in Los Angeles, according to a report Jan. 29 from ESPN's Shams Charania.

The dunk contest is scheduled to take place Feb. 14.

Hayes, the son of former Cincinnati Bengals tight ends coach Jonathan Hayes, is in his seventh NBA season, third with the Lakers.
