Real Madrid to earn around €10m as ex-defender’s move to Premier League club set to become permanent

Earlier in the season, it was reported that Real Madrid are strongly looking at the prospect of re-signing Alex Jimenez.

A product of the La Fabrica academy, Jimenez has been performing exceptionally well during his loan spell at Bournemouth.

This had prompted the media to link the young fullback with a potential return to Santiago Bernabeu, even as the player admitted he would be open to continuing his stay at Bournemouth.

But now, it seems the Cherries have been able to secure the services of Jimenez on a permanent deal from his parent club, AC Milan.

This is quite significant for Real Madrid, who had retained a 50% transfer rights of the player as well as a first refusal clause.

What do Real Madrid get from the deal?

According to Fabrizio Romano, Jimenez’s move to Bournemouth will become permanent this week.

The Premier League outfit are set to pay around €19.5 million for the services of the Spanish fullback, who has been an ever-present figure in the Cherries’ backline this season.

Bournemouth are also set to pay €5.3 million in the form of add-ons, with the player set to sign a contract until 2031.

As far as Real Madrid are concerned, the club are set to receive half the proceeds of the player’s transfer fee.

That means the transfer fee involving Jimenez will be effectively shared between AC Milan and Real Madrid, as both clubs held 50% transfer rights of the player.

This loosely translates to an income of around €9.75 million upfront and possibly more later, in the form of add-ons. While not very significant, this will still aid the prospects for Los Blancos, who are gearing up for a ‘huge’ summer ahead.
