Exeter's England centre Henry Slade signs a new contract with the Prem club.
Exeter's England centre Henry Slade has signed a new contract with the Prem club.
The 32-year-old has spent his entire professional career at Sandy Park, having come up through the club's academy system.
He is one of Exeter's two centrally-contracted England players, alongside winger Immanuel Feyi-Waboso.
His 115 points this season, including six tries, makes Slade the English top flight's top points scorer.
Slade's points have helped propel Exeter, who finished second-from-bottom last season, into Prem play-off contention this year.
He made his debut just over 15 years ago and has made more than 250 appearances for the club as well as winning 74 England caps.
He has played at the 2015 and 2019 Rugby World Cups - including featuring in the final of the latter - but was one of the final England players to be left out of Steve Borthwick's squad for the 2023 World Cup in France.
Slade is one of the final remaining members of Exeter side that helped them win their first Premiership title in 2017 and a league and European Champions Cup double in 2020.
"It was an easy decision to make to re-sign. To be able to run out at Sandy Park and continue to call this place home for a few more years is brilliant," Slade told the club website.
"This squad is really exciting to be a part of. We've got a lot of very talented players who work incredibly hard but are very grounded with a good head on their shoulders.
"It's an exciting time for the club, the way the team has come together is outstanding and I look forward to seeing what we can achieve in the future."
Although called up to England's Six nations squad this month, Slade has missed out on selection for the opening Six Nations game against Wales on Saturday.
His last England appearance came in the win over Argentina last November, but he told BBC Sport earlier this season that he is still aiming to be part of the side that goes to the 2027 World Cup in Australia.
Exeter boss Rob Baxter has long held a desire to extend Slade's deal, which was due to expire at the end of the current season.
"This a fantastic re-signing for us," said Baxter.
"Henry is someone who has been here a long time, seen a lot of success, but still playing fantastically well and probably having one of his best seasons for the club currently.
"Henry is an international quality player, someone who can really hold things together for us as we develop as a team and look to win more trophies. He's exactly the type of player we want to make sure we keep.
"He's a great guy, a great player, everyone loves him in the squad. There's nothing negative to say about Henry, so we're delighted he's staying with us for the next couple of years."
Exeter have not disclosed the length of Slade's new deal.
