Chelsea centre back Wesley Fofana was seen in tears after losing to Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semi final last night.

Fofana was even seen up the other end of the pitch in attacking positions towards the end of the game last night, trying to get that all important goal for Chelsea to keep them in the tie.

The Blues were 3-2 down from the first leg and needed to score to at least take the game through to extra time. But as they were up the other end in the dying moments of the game, trying to find a goal, Arsenal counter attacked them to allow two on one versus Robert Sanchez, who was helpless to stop Kai Havertz scoring against his former club to make the game a 1-0 win to Arsenal on the night, and a 4-2 win over two legs. The Gunners are heading to the final, Chelsea are out of the competition.

Chelsea’s setup has been criticised as being too defensive and too cautious, with Liam Rosenior deciding not to go with any wingers at all and using wingbacks instead. It backfired, and Paul Merson, who is a passionate Chelsea fan, was fuming with that after the game.

Fofana in tears

As you can see above, Fofana couldn’t stop the tears at the full time whistle, visibly upset about Chelsea going out of the League Cup, and probably in the way that they went out.

These are the reactions you want to see from the players, it shows that they truly care and want to win every trophy they are in for.

Go again in more cups

Chelsea are still in the Champions League, FA Cup, and the Champions League race in the Premier League, so they go again now and still have a lot to play for.
