The Saints keep vital members of their coachign staff for 2026.
The New Orleans Saints will be retaining tight ends coach Chase Haslett, per Jordan Schultz. Haslett interviewed with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday. This news came just minutes after quarterbacks coach Scott Tolzien withdrew his name from the Steelers’ offensive coordinator position.
Haslett, the son of former Saints head coach Jim Haslett, signed with Kellen Moore’s coaching staff in 2025. Before joining New Orleans, Haslett was a member of the Dallas Cowboys coaching staff with Moore, initially as an offensive quality control coach before advancing to pass game specialist.
The retention of the Saints’ coaching staff is vital to their development of young players. Obviously, Tolzien has a big impact on Shough’s development, but Haslett did a tremendous job in 2025 helping Juwan Johnson finally break out. Johnon brought in 77 receptions during the season, logging 889 yards and three touchdowns. The wide receiver-turned-tight end had the third-most receiving yards among tight ends.
Haslett and Tolzien’s decisions to remain with the Saints are very telling. Kellen Moore has worked to create chemistry and a winning environment in New Orleans. While they only won six games in 2025, they exceeded expectaitions and there’s excitement heading into 2026. With the Saints likely on the lookout for a young tight end in the draft, retaining Haslett is a big move for the black and gold.
