During a Super Bowl press conference, former Ohio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba gave his take on if the school is still "Wide Receiver U."
Even with the departure of position coach and offensive coordinator Brian Hartline for South Florida, former Ohio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba is confident that OSU remains "Wide Receiver U."
During Super Bowl preparations, the Seattle Seahawks star explained what separates the Buckeyes from other schools that produce top-level wide receiver talent.
"It's a long list and it's about to grow even more," Smith-Njigba told reporters. "I think it's just too much elite talent from top to bottom."
The next Ohio State pass catcher looking to make an impact in the pros is Carnell Tate, who declared for the 2026 NFL Draft in January. Mock drafts project Tate as high as a top-five overall pick, and he is expected to be the top wide receiver drafted in the class.
Since 2022, five Ohio State wide receivers have been drafted in the first round.
"I think when you bring it all together and you look at the names and what we've done, there's no question now," Smith-Njigba said.
