As reported earlier this week, Fran Garcia came close to leaving Real Madrid in the final days of the January transfer window.
A loan move to AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League was advanced, with the defender informing his teammates and coaching staff about the same, only for Real Madrid to ultimately pull the plug on the deal.
The decision to block the move caused a lot of surprise in the dressing room and was met with disappointment from the player and his camp.
So much so that Garcia requested to train away from the rest of the group last week in the lead-up to the game against Rayo Vallecano, reports The Athletic.
Fran Garcia’s situation to be reviewed in the summer
Furthermore, the report states that Fran Garcia will review his situation again in the summer as the left-back hopes to leave for a club where he can play more regularly.

The 26-year-old left-back, whose contract runs until 2027, did not feel ready to return to training normally like nothing had happened after Real Madrid decided to stop his departure.
As such, he asked to do individual work on Saturday, only to see the request get knocked back by the club. Hence, he trained with the full squad for the 15 minutes of the session open to the media before training alone for the remainder of the session.
Since Alvaro Arbeloa took over, Garcia has essentially been reduced to fourth choice at left-back as the new manager seemingly prefers Ferland Mendy and Eduardo Camavinga at left-back ahead of him, with Alvaro Carreras already in the front.
As such, Garcia’s situation will be revisited in the summer as he hopes to secure a move away to a team where he will receive more playing time.
