UFC London full card draws split reaction from fans
Fans have had a range of opinions after the UFC revealed the complete lineup for UFC London. Whenever the calendar for a new year is announced, UFC London is quickly circled as one of the standout events.
Over time, the UK has established itself as a key market for the organisation. This has led to an increase in shows not just in London, but more recently in Manchester as well.
Even though fighters like Tom Aspinall, Paddy Pimblett and Leon Edwards have outgrown the O2 Arena, there’s still plenty of UK representation on this card.
Paddy Pimblett was seen by many as the country’s best chance to bring a pay-per-view event back to Britain. But after his recent defeat to Justin Gaethje, fans will have to settle for another Fight Night instead.
Lerone Murphy vs. Movsar Evloev to headline event
UFC London is set to take place on March 21, marking the promotion’s 16th visit to the city. Once again, the card will focus on highlighting local talent from across the UK.
This time, featherweights Lerone Murphy and Movsar Evloev have been announced as the main event, with both fighters yet to taste defeat in their professional careers.
Early speculation pointed toward this bout being a number one contender fight for a shot at Alexander Volkanovski’s featherweight title.
But speaking shortly after the fight announcement, Murphy shared that he hasn’t received any confirmation that a title shot is guaranteed for the winner.
With that detail now unclear, some fans feel the significance of the matchup may not be as high as first believed.
The co-main event features Luke Riley facing Michael Aswell in what will be Aswell’s second appearance inside the Octagon.
UFC London card announcement draws mixed fan reactions
While the card does feature a few fan favourites, there’s been some pushback over the lineup, with just three ranked fighters across 14 bouts. The reaction on social media reflected that divide.
One supporter posted: “That’s a shockingly bad card.”
Others saw it differently. “Great lineup with top fighters,” another countered.
The co-main event slot was a particular point of debate, especially around Michael ‘Venom’ Page and his place on the card. “Stacked? Who the hell is in the co-main and why isn’t it MVP?” one fan asked.
Nathaniel Wood’s placement also raised questions, given he’s coming off three straight wins since his loss to Muhammad Naimov in 2023. He’ll face Losene Keita, who many see as a rising star.
Despite all sides of this conversation seemingly being covered so far, one fan responded: “The UFC’s definition of stacked differs vastly from the rest of us.”
