New head coach Will Stein closes January with another addition as 2026 safety Tyler Wright commits to Kentucky.
Kentucky Football has secured yet another commitment to its 2026 class. On Saturday, Bixby (Okla.) High school safety Tyler Wright announced his pledge to the Wildcats, becoming the latest recruit to join Will Stein’s increasingly active rebuild.
Wright, who played both wide receiver and defensive back for Bixby, becomes Kentucky’s fifth unranked addition since the early signing period. While not yet rated by major services, Wright joins a long list of recent Wildcats pickups as Stein strategically fills out the future roster under the NCAA’s new 105-player limit. Programs can no longer rely on large walk-on classes, making evaluations of under-the-radar prospects more crucial than ever.
The commitment comes as Kentucky enters the final stretch of roster construction before the late signing period arrives on Wednesday. Stein and his staff have been aggressive in building and retaining some of the players from the previous coaching staff for the class of 2026, headlined by four-star talents such as wide receiver Kenny Darby, quarterback Matt Ponatoski, and cornerbacks Andre Clarke and Isaiah McMillian.
As the dead period begins, the Wildcats appear poised to wrap up one of their most active recruiting months in recent history.
