Anfield icon John Arne Riise has taken aim at Arsenal supporters amid their behaviour during the ongoing Premier League title battle with Manchester City.

Manchester City’s sustained presence at the summit of the Premier League table has kept them firmly in the conversation for this season’s title, while Arsenal’s continued challenge has reignited old rivalries and debates.

City’s experience and composure at the business end of the season has been contrasted with the growing noise surrounding their closest challengers, while fan behaviour and online narratives have also become part of the wider discussion around the title run-in.

It is within that backdrop that former Liverpool defender Arne Riise has offered his perspective, weighing in not only on his preferred outcome of the title race, but also on what he has observed from Arsenal supporters online.

Speaking during a new interview with DR Sports, John Arne Riise said when quizzed for his preference on the Premier League title race outcome, “It’s wrong to say ‘I hope’, but since we [Liverpool] are probably mostly out of it, I’d rather have City win it than Arsenal.”

He continued, “On my TikTok and social media, Arsenal fans are really on TikTok, they’re loud. And the funny thing is, they seem to know everything, people on TikTok. They’re fun to watch because they say some crazy things.

“I love Martin Odegaard, but the thing with Man City is I LOVE Pep Guardiola; the things he’s done, the football he plays, such a nice guy, and they have [Erling] Haaland as well. That’s why I hope they win it if we can’t.”

John Arne Riise’s comments echo a broader sentiment that has emerged as Manchester City once again find themselves in familiar territory, trusted by many neutrals and former players to navigate the final stretch with authority.

Pep Guardiola’s track record in decisive moments of campaigns throughout his managerial career continues to command respect across the game, even from those with strong ties to rival clubs.

As the season reaches its defining phase, Manchester City will look to let performances do the talking, while debates around fan culture, experience, and mentality continue to simmer alongside another closely watched title race.
