Rockingham now joins The Clash as being shortened and moved back twice, with O'Reilly and Trucks' first test of the year at the track moved from Tuesday and Wednesday to a one-day program on Friday.
With the postponement of The Cookout Clash now until Wednesday, NASCAR faces a scheduling clash with the already postponed Rockingham Speedway test dates for the O'Reilly and Truck Series. NASCAR decided to shorten and reschedule the test from Tuesday, February 3rd, and Wednesday, February 4th, to a single-day session on Friday, February 6th.
Fox Sports' Bob Pockrass announced the date change on X amid updated information about Wednesday's Clash.
NASCAR was quicker to move the Rockingham test dates than The Clash. When they saw the cold temperatures hit last week, they moved Rockingham from the last Tuesday and Wednesday of January to the first of February. Now, with The Clash and the majority of the industry set to be held in Winston-Salem at Bowman Gray Stadium, NASCAR had no choice but to push back the test to Friday.
With testing not being a spectator event, moving it so close to the TV juggernaut of the Super Bowl was easier than pushing The Clash back a full weekend and having to compete against and squeeze into spots around the NFL's Super Bowl.
