Barcelona star rejects club’s offer to accompany him for surgery

Barcelona star Marc-André ter Stegen has rejected the club’s offer to accompany him for his upcoming back surgery.

That’s according to Blaugrana insider Javier Miguel, who has on Monday provided an insight into the situation.

Goalkeeper Ter Stegen has of course taken his place centre stage in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of the last week.

This comes after the German took to social media, to confirm that he had made the call to go under the knife.

After being forced to sit out pre-season training owing to a long-standing back complaint, Ter Stegen, under the advice of the Barcelona board, was in turn condemned to an incoming spell on the sidelines.

The 33-year-old has since made the trip to Bordeaux, France, ahead of undergoing the procedure on Tuesday.

As alluded to above, though, Ter Stegen, despite an offer on the part of the Camp Nou brass, turned down the chance to be accompanied on his trip.

As per a report from Diario AS:

‘AS has learned that Ter Stegen did not want anyone from the club to accompany him on the trip to Bordeaux , further proof that the tension between the two parties remains high.’
