Sesko strikes late to give Michael Carrick's United third win in a row

Benjamin Sesko struck seconds after Kevin had equalised in stoppage time to give Michael Carrick a third win in a row.

The Red Devils started brightly with Amad Diallo and Harry Maguire forcing Bernd Leno into early saves.

United wanted a penalty 10 minutes in when Jorge Cuenca bundled into the back of Bryan Mbeumo with the referee and VAR deciding against it.

Eventually the home side did get a penalty but it was one that VAR overturned. Cuenca was pulling the shirt of Matheus Cunha outside the box before winning the ball with a tackle inside. 

The decision was then changed to a free-kick with Bruno Fernandes whipping a cross that Casemiro rose highest to make it 1-0 in the 19th minute.

After scoring the first, the departing midfielder assisted the second early into the second half with a no-look pass that fed in Cunha who fired into the roof of the net.

VAR was needed again when Fulham thought they had put themselves into after Cuenca netted for what would have been his first Cottagers goal following a Harry Wilson free-kick. It was a lengthy video review that took about four minutes before it was decided that Samuel Chukwueze was offside when he first received the ball.

United missed the chance to go 3-0 up when Benjamin Sesko, who had been on the pitch for a matter of seconds, headed onto the post following Kobbie Mainoo's delivery.

However Fulham battled back. First Harry Maguire's late challenge after Raúl Jiménez had an effort saved by Senne Lammens resulted in a penalty that the Mexican lifted into the top corner following a stuttering run up.

Then two minutes into nine of stoppage time it was 2-2. Substitute Kevin was a scorching effort from the edge of the area that was beyond the reach of the goalkeeper and into the top corner.

But a minute after the restart United went ahead again through Benjamin Sesko after Fernandes' low cross found the striker who did well to swivel his body and finish.

United had to survive almost ten minutes as the nine added minutes soon became 12 but in the end the home side earned all three points.
