A Manchester City starlet is set to sign a new deal and could also head out on loan

Divine Mukasa has spent time training with the Manchester City first-team this season. The young attacking midfielder has made six appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side this season. Mukasa looks to be a player with a bright future at City. The young playmaker has the talent, and attributes in his game to one day make an impact for City. We have seen glimpses of this during the 25/26 season. Fabrizio Romano has reported that Mukasa is on the verge of signing a new contract with City. The young attacking midfielder could also be poised to join Leicester City on loan for the remainder of this season to further his development.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Divine Mukasa is on the verge of signing a new contract with Manchester City. Furthermore, Romano reports that Mukasa could also be set to join Leicester City on loan for the remainder of this season. As per Romano’s report Leicester City and Manchester City have agreed on a deal to send Mukasa to Leicester City on loan. In a separate report, Romano adds that for the loan move to go ahead, Divine Mukasa has to agree to go out on loan to Leicester City. This hasn’t yet occurred at the time of writing.

Playing in the Championship is the logical next step for Mukasa’s development.

Divine Mukasa has risen from talented young prospect to training with Pep Guardiola’s squad on a consistent basis. Mukasa has also made six appearances for the Manchester City first-team this season, adding an assist. Technically, Mukasa has all of the talent needed to breakthrough at City. Tactically, Mukasa is an intelligent player who can play as a number ten, on either wing or as a false nine. Physically, Mukasa looks to be well capable of playing in the Premier League in time.

To get to that point, Mukasa needs to be playing at a higher level than Manchester City’s EDS side and just training with the City first-team. A loan move to Leicester City and playing in the Championship should greatly aid Mukasa’s development. If he does join Leicester on loan, he will be joining a team that has struggled in the Championship this season. So the opportunity will be there for Mukasa to make an impression at Leicester. He will also get to play against seasoned professionals in a high-pressure environment. That should accelerate Mukasa’s development if he does indeed head out on loan.
