The No. 12 tight end in the class of 2026, Evan Jacobson, announced his commitment to Texas A&M on Friday. He's the 244th overall recruit from the class as well as the No. 2 prospect from Iowa. The Waukee, Iowa native chose the Aggies over Notre Dame, Iowa State, Missouri, and Stanford.

His brother, Michael, currently plays for the New Orleans Saints and previously played for the Indianapolis Colts and Seattle Seahawks. Before starting his NFL career, he played one season of professional basketball in Ukraine and college basketball at Iowa State and Nebraska.

Jacobson took four unofficial visits: once to Louisville and Penn State, and twice to Florida State. His official visited were scheduled with Stanford, Missouri, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, and Iowa State. The tight end visited College Station on June 5 and felt that his place was in the SEC.

"It makes the most sense because the people, the players, the staff, and the schemes," Jacobson said, according to Aggies Wire. "SEC football and basketball is where you want to be right now . . . [the Aggies] see me fitting right in."

As his decision date neared, the Aggies and Fighting Irish were the most likely to land the tight end. Notre Dame has the No. 5 recruiting class, two spots below Texas A&M. The Fighting Irish have had a better time on the offensive side of recruiting with 16 of their 26 commits on the attack, however, the SEC appeal overrode the independent school.

Jacobson joins Tafua and Johnson in the tight end room as well as the other offensive commits: quarterback Helaman Casuga, running backs Jonathan Hatton Jr. and KJ Edwards, wide receivers Mike Brown, Madden Williams, and Aaron Gregory, offensive tackles Avery Morcho and Zaden Krempin, and interior offensive lineman Samuel Roseborough.
