Leeds United are plotting a potential late swoop for VfL Wolfsburg striker Mohamed Amoura ahead of the Monday transfer deadline, according to French journalist Nabil Djellit. Leeds manager Daniel Farke wants more attacking firepower at the Elland Road club, and the Whites are trying to get a deal across the line. They have been linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jorgen Strand Larsen all through the winter and could allow Joel Piro to leave if a new number 9 arrives.

Amoura has been on Leeds’ radar for a while, but unless there is a dramatic twist, the Algeria international is expected to continue the season with the Bundesliga club. The 25-year-old has been involved in 31 goals since last term after notching ten goals and 12 assists last term. The Leeds target has seven goals and two assists so far this term, and the West Yorkshire club could do with such a striker. Amoura is unlikely to cost more than the £40 million the Whites are willing to pay for Strand Larsen, but it remains to be seen whether they have plans to make any concrete move in the coming hours.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been in impressive form for Leeds so far since his arrival from Everton last summer, with nine goals and one assist to his name in 21 league games.
