  • The costume designer, Lisa McKinnon, slammed FedEx for failing to deliver the costumes on time and tried every possible way to locate them for the athlete

Someone slipped up.

Lisa McKinnon, a Los Angeles-based costume designer, voiced her frustrations at FedEx after the shipping company failed to deliver looks made for U.S. ice dancer Christina Carreira before she left for Milan to compete in the 2026 Winter Olympics.

The skater, who partners with Anthony Ponomarenko, hopped her flight to Italy without her costumes due to a mix-up with shipping, causing much stress and anxiety for her and McKinnon approximately one week out from the start of the Winter Games.

"Dear @fedex, We’re heartbroken and so incredibly disappointed with you! We really really need you to come through for us right now!! We have an Olympic costume that has allegedly been ”stuck” at the memphis fedex facility since Sunday," she began in a lengthy Instagram caption.

McKinnon created Carreira's rhythm dance and free dance outfits and sent them out on Saturday, Jan. 24, to have them arrive to Carreira by Monday, Jan. 26. The costumes, however, were seemingly stuck at a FedEx facility in Memphis, but there was no confirmation that they were there.

"It was supposed to be delivered on Monday before 8:30am and it’s now Thursday and the skaters are literally on their way to the Olympics in Milan without the costume!!! We’ve been calling every day and have been told it will be on the plane and delivered 'tomorrow'," she wrote.

McKinnon didn't have an update at the time of her post on Thursday, Jan. 29.

"It’s like pulling teeth to get answers from calling FedEx!!!" she continued in her caption. "So, I’m reaching out to you all, my amazing followers, to see if anyone has any direct connections to anyone working at the main FedEx facility in Memphis that can help us????"

A slew of messages filled the comment section in support. FedEx's official Instagram account, too, looked to help.

"Social Media team here, we want to help out and are looking into this!" they wrote.

Carreira also shared a notice on her TikTok, letting her followers know the situation before she flew overseas.

"I really really hope they're delivered!" she said in part ahead of her departure, begging FedEx in her caption to "please pull through" with her dresses.

On Friday, Jan. 30, McKinnon shared an update with her followers in the comment section of her initial post.

"Our small, but mighty, skating community has come together and through a friend of a friend within US Figure Skating, whom had a collegue in Memphis that knew someone that worked at the hub and that could physically go find the package, it was found late last night and is en route for delivery today! Thank you!!! 🙏🏻🥰❤️," she wrote.

If the costumes didn't make it to Italy in time for the Olympics, a U.S. Figure Skating spokesperson told USA Today Sports that Carreira would have to wear an old costume.

McKinnon added that the costumes will be delivered to Carreira's team, and they will be taking it to Italy. Carreira also shared a photo of the box on her Instagram Stories, rejoicing that the package was found.
