Jason Lowe, a champion bodybuilder, has died. He was 38.
The news of Lowe’s death was confirmed in a series of Instagram posts to his account, including a tribute from his wife, Ashley, who wrote on Thursday, Jan. 22, “You made me a better version of myself, and you were going to be the absolute best dad. Saying that I’m devastated doesn’t even begin to touch the depth of this loss.”
According to National Physique Committee, Lowe regularly competed in bodybuilding competitions between 2015 and 2025. He also maintained a following of over 104,000 users on Instagram, where he shared weightlifting content and updates from his competitions. He last posted a gym video on Jan. 21, one day before the news of his death was announced.

According to a friend who established a GoFundMe to raise money for Ashley and the rest of the their family, Lowe's death was “unexpected.”
In a touching tribute posted on Thursday, Jan. 29, which would have been Lowe’s 39th birthday, Ashley remembered her late husband on Instagram as “wild child at heart who always said ‘yes.’ ”
“Being around you, your goofiness, your laugh, the way you showed up, it was contagious. I could have spent every minute of every day with you, and it still would have never been enough,” she continued.
Ashley added, “You wrote so much poetry and music, pieces of your soul that so many people never got to see. You carried dark battles that would have broken most people, and somehow, still, you chose joy. You found happiness in us. That will never stop astounding me.”
On Instagram, several of those Lowe’s worked with throughout his career also shared tributes to the late bodybuilding star.
“You were more like a friend to me than a bodybuilder,” wrote a user with the name PHL Designs, known for bodybuilding graphics. “I commented [on] every post and watched every YouTube video. You will be always remembered by me and I will do this bodybuilding journey and make you proud.”

“Jason wasn’t just a friend to me. He was my brother,” penned Kyle Gibbs. “Jason could carry a room. If you walked in stressed, he pulled you out of it. If you were down, he lifted you up. If you were quiet, he pulled you in.”
“He was always humble, and just [a] true athlete,” shared photographer Dustin Raymond, adding that he was “one of my favorite people run into.”
