Mets linked to 19-HR infielder in trade from AL East

Brandon Lowe to Queens, anyone?

The New York Mets are looking to make a push down the stretch to win the NL East and get deep into the postseason.

To do so, they could use yet another powerful bat.

They're looking toward the American League East to find one, and specifically, it sounds like their calls are going to the Rays.

The Mets are interested in second baseman Brandon Lowe from Tampa Bay, according to the New York Post's Joel Sherman.

Lowe is technically hurt right now, but he's expected back soon.

The lefty swinger has been one of the most reliable second baseman in the AL throughout his career. He has 19 homers this season after hitting 21 apeice in each of the past two campaigns (in just 107 and 109 games, respectively).

Lowe's career high in home runs was 39, in 2021, when he played his most games in a season, 149.

He's injured a bit too much for anyone's liking, but he shouldn't cost too much to acquire, either.

He'd give the Mets a powerful, veteran presence in the order.

It'd be Lowe's first time on a team other than the Rays, and it'd be a chance to help a big-market club make a postseason run.
