Sanctioned by CAF, Pape Thiaw refuses Senegalese fundraising
After the 2025 AFCON final and his sanction from CAF (a five-match suspension and a $100,000 fine), Pape Thiaw sent a clear message to the Senegalese public.
In response to fundraising initiatives aimed at helping him pay the fine, the head coach of the Lions of Teranga stated:
Your solidarity touches me deeply; thank you for the love you show me.But I ask you not to organize any collections in my name. I urge you to redirect these funds toward more urgent causes, to help those who are truly in need.
Despite the controversy on the pitch, Thiaw insists that the priority should be on social support and those in need, rather than raising money to cover his personal sanction.
