Williams is now recovering from foot surgery.
When Kam Williams went down with a broken foot against Texas, it was later revealed that the Kentucky Basketball guard would need surgery and could miss the rest of the season.
Williams has since undergone surgery, and it sounds like there’s a small chance he’ll play again this season for the Wildcats, but not one that fans should get their hopes up with.
On Thursday, head coach Mark Pope said Williams had an “outside chance” to play again this year.
“Kam will be out a while. With his particular medical treatment, it’s some place pretty soon he gets to just a pain tolerance,” said Pope. “I’d like to make all kinds of jokes on that, but, you know, we’ll see.
“There’s maybe an outside, outside, outside chance that Kam could rejoin us at some point in the season. We’ll see.”
With that wording, we probably shouldn’t expect Williams to play again this season, and that’s probably the best call. With Kentucky going through so many injuries — for whatever mysterious reason that may be — having foot surgery and then returning within two months sounds far too risky.
Here’s to hoping Williams is able to recover 100%, however long that may take.
