The youngster’s contract will expire in June and Ralph Orquin has no plans to renew as he eyes a move abroad.
Rumors have started that youngster Ralph Orquin will not renew his contract with Club América, opting for a move to Europe in the summer instead. The young player has the chance to fight for a spot with his boyhood club but instead he wants a new experience and has even gone as far as obtaining a Spanish passport in order to leave Liga MX in June.
In the past it was fairly common for young Mexican players to head to Europe but nowadays that’s not the case. Instead youngsters prefer to sign contracts with Liga MX clubs that will guarantee them a big payday and will keep them in Mexico for years. 22 year-old Orquin has decided to reject the new norm and prefers a move abroad once his contract is up. His agent has a lot to do with this decision to leave and it has caused some controversy among Club América fans and even professionals. One TUDN reporter even aired his grievances on his social media accounts.
This opinion is very short sighted, especially coming from a professional. This kind of news should be celebrated but instead it’s looked down upon. It would be in the best interest of the player, and Mexican football in general, for him to leave and further develop his career. More agents should be doing this for their young players who have so much potential just waiting to come out.
While it is disappointing for América to lose one of their academy players, especially one who has been with the club since he was nine years old, it will not be a big hit for the team. Orquin is part of the first-team dynamic but he hasn’t seen consistent minutes on the field. The last time he played for the Aguilas was during a friendly back in October 2025 and has not seen the field since. The youngster is either on the bench or excluded from the roster. Head coach André Jardine has decided against giving minutes to an academy player who many have dubbed the next ‘gem’ even though the team is in need of a change. The Aguilas are not the same team that won the tricampeonato and maybe Orquin is what is missing from the team but Jardine is too stubborn to include the player. The youngster’s potential is wasting away on the bench so a move to Europe might be for the best. No one knows yet what team or teams will come knocking for the player but a move to Spain, or possibly the Netherlands, where young players have succeeded would be in his best interest. While most youngsters have agents who are only looking out for the money, Orquin is in great hands with an agent who worries more about his development than the dollar signs.
