Mike Penders (19), who is yet to make his Chelsea debut, has joined fellow BlueCo-owned side RC Strasbourg Alsace for the upcoming campaign, it has been confirmed.
Penders joined from KRC Genk for €20m last summer, before being loaned out to his formative club for the 2024/25 campaign. It was always expected that he would be loaned out once more this summer. There was an opening at Ligue 1 side Strasbourg this summer, after Djordje Petrović left Les Alsaciens to return to parent club Chelsea. The Serbian has since completed a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge, joining Bournemouth.
Petrović’s departure left Strasbourg needing to recruit in the goalkeeper department. It was always expected that Penders would join RCSA. He is the first Chelsea player to join on loan at Strasbourg this summer. Kendry Paez is expected to follow, whilst Mathis Amougou has also traded Stamford Bridge for the Meinau on a permanent deal. Penders’ move does not include a buy option.
